Clean before you stick

The 3M 468MP adhesive needs a clean, grease-free surface. Remove dust, then degrease thoroughly to get rid of silicone and trim dressings, which are what most often stop stick-on trim from holding on a warm day. Let the surface dry fully and work under cover, in good light.

Offer up before fixing

Before peeling the backing, offer each part up dry to check how it lines up with the edges and joints. Then peel gradually and press from the centre outwards to push the air out. Work in the order of the diagram, large parts first, and take your time on curves.

When to call a professional

For a new car, a dashboard full of curves or a large kit, a detailer or wrapper is the recommended route. They are used to fitting films and decor neatly and will take the time a clean result needs. It is also the simplest option if you do not have a garage to work in.
