Scania S & R Next Generation interior: dashboard trim kits and interior accessories

The Scania S and R of the Next Generation, built since 2016, are among the most popular long-haul trucks in Europe – from the R450 fleet truck to the 770 S with the flat-floor S cab. The Scania interior is roomy and well made, but the dashboard is largely dark plastic. Scania interior accessories such as a 3D dashboard trim kit change that in one afternoon: pre-cut parts in a wood, carbon or aluminium look that go straight onto the original surfaces. This guide explains which kit fits your Scania dashboard and how to fit it.

1. Which kit fits your Scania S & R Next Generation

Each kit consists of pre-cut 3D parts in a wood, carbon or brushed-aluminium look. The parts are cut to the parts diagram of one model and cab, topped with a clear PU dome about 2–3 mm thick and stuck onto the original surfaces with 3M adhesive.

How the kits differ: the 12-part 3D Basic kit covers the main surfaces of the dashboard. The 17-part kit covers more surfaces, and the 24-part TopSleeper kit is the most complete set. For trucks from 2024 with the newer dashboard there is a separate 2024+ 3D Basic kit. The S cab (flat floor) and the R cab share the same dashboard design, but always compare the parts diagram with your truck. The steering-wheel position (LHD or RHD) is selected as an option on the product page.

Every product page shows the parts diagram. Compare it with your own dashboard before ordering: cab size, gearbox controls, radio and switch panels can differ. Driving an older Scania? There are also kits for the R-Series 2004–2015 and the 4-Series 1996–2004 – see all Scania kits. Not sure? Send us a photo of your dashboard.

2. Choosing the finish

The kits come in many printed finishes, and the choice changes the whole mood of the cab:

  • Wood look – walnut, mahogany or burl make the cab feel warmer, more like a living room. A popular choice for drivers who spend their weekends in the truck.
  • Carbon look – a sporty, technical look that suits modern screens and dark upholstery.
  • Brushed aluminium look – a clean, light accent that keeps the cab looking tidy and modern.

All finishes are printed – it is not real wood, carbon or metal – and protected by the clear PU dome, which gives depth and rounded edges. The kits ship high-gloss; for a matte look, spray one thin coat of clear matt lacquer on the parts before fitting.

3. Fitting at a truck stop: step by step

You do not need a workshop. A clean cab, a free afternoon and a little patience are enough.

  1. Warm cab. Fit the parts at room temperature, at least +15 °C. In winter, run the heater first – cold adhesive does not bond well.
  2. Clean and degrease. Wipe every surface with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Cockpit sprays and silicone cleaners prevent the adhesive from sticking.
  3. Dry fit first. Hold each part in place without removing the backing and compare it with the parts diagram.
  4. Start in the middle. Peel the backing, place the part with one edge first, then press it down firmly from the centre outwards.
  5. Press again after 24 hours. The adhesive reaches full strength after about a day; avoid cleaning the parts with solvents in the first days.

Our fitting guide explains the fitting in detail.

4. Driving a company truck?

Many drivers personalise the truck they drive every day, even if it belongs to the company. The kit is stuck onto the existing surfaces and nothing is drilled or dismantled, but ask your fleet manager before fitting it. Owner-operators can of course decide for themselves – and a well-kept cab also looks good when the truck is sold later.

Scania S & R Next Generation interior: questions we hear often

Which kit fits my Scania S or R?
The NG kits from 2016 are made for the dashboard of the S and R Next Generation; they differ in how many surfaces are covered (12, 17 or 24 parts), and the TopSleeper kit is named after the cab version. For trucks from 2024 with the newer dashboard, choose the 2024+ kit. Compare the parts diagram before ordering.

Do you have kits for right-hand drive trucks (UK, Ireland)?
Yes. The steering-wheel position (LHD or RHD) is selected as an option on the product page.

Does it fit the Scania 770 S or the R450?
The engine version does not matter – what counts is the cab and the dashboard. The S and R Next Generation share the dashboard design, so the NG kits are the right starting point.

Is it real wood or carbon?
No. All finishes are printed and covered with a clear PU dome.

Do I have to remove the dashboard?
No. The parts go onto the existing, suitable surfaces.

Gloss or matte?
The kits ship high-gloss. For a matte look, spray one thin coat of clear matt lacquer on the parts before fitting.
